Pennsylvania Tax Deed Auctions - (OR)

The state of Pennsylvania does not conduct its tax lien certificate sales. However, the state does hold tax deed sales and an overview of relevant information indicates that Pennsylvania can be considered a good state for tax deed sales. There are often numerous properties available in some of the counties.

An Overview of Pennsylvania Tax Deed Sales

Since Pennsylvania only conducts tax deed sales, there is no associated interest rate. Normally, tax deed sales auctions are held in September. However, judicial sales occur in the spring of each year. There is no right of redemption in Pennsylvania. The only exception to this rule is for the city of Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, there may be a right of redemption if the owner has resided in the property 90 days prior to the sale.

Pennsylvania Tax Sales Bidding Process

All tax sales held in Pennsylvania are held via a competitive bidding process. In cases where a property is not sold at auction, a private sale is held 3 months after the initial auction. And if the property is still not sold, the lien may be evaluated and removed by the court.
